Why play Beckham tomorrow?

David Beckham has decided to play against Lichtenstein tomorrow despite receiving a yellow card in his previous match.
This means if he gets another card he will suspended for the decisive game against Turkey.
In my opinion, this is a stupid move, given England is almost assured of victory over Lichtenstein, and given Beckham's penchant for boneheaded plays.

before game time, you grab Becks, you shake him up and you say, look mother ****er, if I see you even trying to foul a Liechtensteinian, I will inmediately pull you from the game. You either pledge complete fair play or you're sitting this one. Once out there, simply trust your team's star..

Green- Interesting topic you brought up. I just watched Sky Sports News and they were talking about it as well. There is no reason to play Beckham in this game. This is a good chance to give someone else a run out and let Beckham have the day off. The game is basically a scrimmage and the risk of picking up the 2nd yellow is just too great.

This season's fixture list is very crowded so when you get a chance to give a player a day off, you take it. Beckham has a match on Saturday with Real Madrid as league play gets going again and then a mid-week match as Champion's League play resumes with group play in the round of 32. No reason Beckham should play in this match.

true, from a coach's perspective, playing Beckham here is the absolute worse decision you can make. IF Beckham were to get hurt in this game, Sven would be killed before he left the stadium.....

That is the best thing that could happen for England!

And Real will say thank you. Finally a reason not to put this playboy in the team.

Anyhow here in Asia we know long time already that Beckham is the most overrated player out there, so when the news came out, the line moved instantly from 4/4.5 to 4 goals. As soon as England is 2-0 in front, Beckham will do nothing. Lazy guy!

Beckham is noted for making, shall we say, "blunders", in high profile matches, wouldn't suprise me to see him make a stupid foul and get carded.

no ref would card beckham in a game against lichnestein, for that matter, i dont think any england player stands any chance of commiting a foul worthy of a yellow card against lichnestein.

And on acw's point, beckham might be considered a stud, but as far as football goes he there are plenty out there much much better than him, actually his only merit is a good right leg, no speed, no good defence, no dribbles, no headers, no left leg whatsoever, gladly for him some closet gay heads of media/football teams/etc. and some english and asian brats idolise him, and hence the billions in terms of his salary, while at the same time africa dies of starvation/aids/other diseases, it's a fvcked up world we are living in.
